Empowering Housewives in Banjar Penarungan, Udayana Agribusiness Study Program Holds Community Service
The Agribusiness Study Program held community service activities in Banjar Penarungan, Penarukan Village, Buleleng District, and Buleleng Regency. This activity, which was carried out at Simantri 551 Angsoka, was attended by PKK women in Banjar Penarungan as participants and invited two resource persons, namely Ni Luh Mahendri Dynastuti, SE., as owner of Sambal Mamone, and Putu Sugiarta, SP., M. Agb., Bali Province agricultural instructor. These two resource persons were presented with the hope that participants would be inspired to empower their home gardens so that they could produce agricultural products that, apart from being able to meet the needs of their families, could also increase their income if the products could be marketed to consumers.
Dr. Gede Setiawan, SP., M. Si., as chairman of the committee, expressed his hope that this service activity could provide information and increase participants' motivation to be able to farm simply, especially PKK mothers who have problems in the kitchen. According to the Head of Penarukan Village, Drs. Ketut Swastika, community empowerment is an important thing, especially over the past 2 years. The community has been hit by the issues of COVID-19, economics, food security, and the war between Russia and Ukraine, which has caused the price of basic food commodities to rise.
Coordinator of the Agribusiness Study Program, Dr. Putu Udayani, at the opening of his activity, expressed his gratitude for the enthusiasm of the participants who attended. Dr. Udayani advised that this activity can be sustainable; in the future, it can provide sharing on other topics, such as product processing and marketing.
